Change is in the air

The past few days have brought about new ideas and a new direction for me in life. I spent most of the day Saturday visiting my mom out in Salton City. We talked a lot about life and what's going on in the world but most importantly we talked about the ranch. Both her and my step dad are getting up in their age and are not able to run their business like they would like and need someone to help out. It is getting more difficult for them to drive back and forth from the desert to the ranch.
It started with a small comment I made right after arriving at the Salton City house. I said "It really feels good to be up at the ranch again, I can't believe I forgot how quiet it is up there!". The conversation then moved into how she needs help up at the ranch. I don't remember if she asked or I commented but we quickly got on the topic of me going up there at least once a month to read meters and do all the property management that is required on the ranch. It will eventually lead me into taking over my mom's business entirely. I don't believe that will happen in the near term but maybe in a few years......
I am very excited and nervous all at the same time. I am learning something new and I get to run a ranch!!! This is one of the many things I have dreamed of doing in my life and I get to do it! To prepare I am going to have to get a reliable 4x4. Right now my current Jeep 4x4 is giving me to many problems and I am nervous driving it because every time I take it out for a drive something brakes on it. So I have started looking at Wranglers and FJ Cruisers over the weekend. I am also considering the Escape. It's cool to get a new car but I am not looking forward to car payments. I haven't had to make car payments since 2003.
In the next week I am going to have my Jeep looked at by a mutual friend of Berry and I. I hope that my current jeep doesn't really need all the repairs that I have been told and won't cost very much to fix. However, I think that is a pipe dream because every time I get the Jeep looked over and the problems are fixed something else pops up even more expensive to fix, ugh.
In other news, I have been sick this weekend with a sore scratchy throat. It bothered me the most on Saturday. Sunday I felt a lot better. I even felt as though I was better. Now, Sunday night,  I feel like it is coming back. I'v got watery eyes scratchy throat and a runny nose. I have been popping vitamin C all day like it was candy. Come on vitamin C do your best!!! I am going to take some medicine ( don't know what I am going to take at the moment) and pray that it kicks this cold's ass and I feel better for work tomorrow.
With all that said I have got to get some sleep in. Have a great night all!

How I've Spent my time

Hey everyone! Since the last blog things have been moving along. I had the Jeep looked at and it turns out that it is going to take about $4,000 to get it back up and running. Ugh!!! I don't exactly have that kinda of money laying around these days so I have had to make a decision on the Jeep. My choices are to save up the money and fix it, but in the mean time I will have to rely on my motorcycle and when it rains Heather's Celica; or I can trade the Jeep in for a new car. I think I have decided to just hold on to the Jeep for now and see if we are able to get a loan for a new house first.
In December I am planning on doing what I can to further Heather and I into a new home and out of her parents house. The first thing I have going is to go to some sort of mortgage workshop to allow me to qualify for state and local governmental financial help. I am doing this because the city of Vista is helping new home buyers purchase a new home. They are loaning $60,000 as a silent down payment toward a townhouse or single family house so one of their prerequisites is to attend a mortgage workshop. Next, I need to find out how much mortgage I can get. I am hoping my cousin Jory will be able to help me on this one. Then I will need to find a home. Finally, move in to said home.  :)
Work has still been really busy. I think I am averaging around 50 hours a week and more when I work on the weekends. It is a bit tiring leaving for work early and not coming back home 'till just in time to go to bed. The extra money has given us a little breathing room this month, which is nice. I don't mind it so much as we are able to have a decent social life with the extra income. We have gone out to dinner with friends almost every weekend and been able to buy real presents for family and friends this year. I know the extra money won't last but it is nice to be able to relax on the penny pinching for a bit.
Today I finally uploaded a video to you tube. I learned how to make a light saber using Final Cut Express. Check out my video here. Let me know what you think comment, rate and or subscribe, please! I really would like to know what ya'll think of it and of all my blogs.
Also today I went and made food packages for the children in Haiti with my church Crossweave. It was a blast! The first time I have ever been involved in a large non profit event. We were there for an hour. I teamed up with Naila, Berry, their two boys and Sean. I don't know how much food we packed but it did seem like a lot! I ran into a friend and his daughter and also ran into a patient from work. I don't remember her name but she commented that I look like Ewen McGreggor with my motorcycle jacket on and beard. I thought that was cool.
Anyway it is getting really late now about 9:45 and I needed to be asleep 45 minutes ago so I am going to end here. Have a wonder full week every one and hopefully I will have another blog up in a few days or less.

3 days past

Well it's been 3 days since my last blog. I had originally decided to write one blog a day for the month of November. It was more difficult then I thought. For the last few days I have been uninspired to do much of anything except eat sleep and work.  I have been very introspective on my life. I have been thinking of where I've been where I am now and where I will be in the future. Things I have been meditating on I don't particularly want to share at this time, sorry guys.
Work has been good. We have been busy as usual. On Friday I worked through my lunch cleaning up our front office files.  I received a really cool call on Friday from one of our area sales people. She asked when I would be going back to Graybill ( Graybill was my previous work station) because the clients miss having me there. Currently I am located at the Grand site which is about 2 blocks away from Graybill. She went on to praise my accomplishments which is something I really needed to hear. Sometimes it's hard to feel recognized for hard work in a large corporation. It also felt good to have a positive, mature talk about the corporation with someone without hearing tons of negativity.
On Saturday I had both our cars worked on. I took my Jeep to the mechanics. Earlier this week my check engine light went on after i heard a loud thump under the car. The mechanic said I had two codes that popped up about the transmission. The mechanic was not able to say specially until Monday because that is when their transmission specialist will be there. I should know what is going on with the Jeep and how much it's going to cost then. After dropping off the Jeep I took Heather's car to the Toyota dealership for an oil change. I walked around the lot and drooled over the the new vehicles, especially the 4x4 Tundra.
After I had the Toyota serviced I did some early christmas shopping. I first went to Target, big mistake. The parking lot was so full that I gave up idling waiting to get into the parking lot. I turned around and headed to a few other places. I can't say since Heather reads this post and might figure out what I got her. I am thankful for work this year because we have a little more to spend this year on gifts then we have been able to in the last few years. Christmas will be nice this year.
I have been reading my book on Final Cut Express still I am in chapter 5 now. This chapter is about marking clips. So far I have learned/ relearned how to navigate around FCE using the viewer, canvas, timeline, and browser.
Later today I am headed to church. Then Heather and I are going to meet up with some of our friends for a wine tasting at Ophelia winery in Escondido.

That is all I have for now

Making a blog out of nothing

Not feeling like blogging tonight. Right now I am sitting on the bed with Heather. Tami is sleeping between us snoring away. We are watching Survivor and surfing the net. Just a typical night at home. Work was good not to crazy. I drove the Jeep to work today and it was making a few weird noises. I heard a loud clunk in the transmission this morning and a smaller one when I was driving back home. On Saturday I am going to take the Jeep in to get it checked out before those noises stop making noise all together. I am also planning on taking Heather's car to Toyota for a oil change and possible tune up if needed.
This morning I worked on Final Cut Express. I learned how to make a Light Saber..... yea I am pretty excited about that. I figured it out by searching "how to make a light saber" in You Tube. Found one video that showed how to make the sword and another on how to edit it into a scene. So far I have made the sword, next is to film someone swinging a sword around so I can turn it into a light saber.
The process of making the sword is really easy. I don't know if I could go into detail in the blog but to make it I needed to make 3 layers of video. Each one with a slightly different haze effect. I know I need to put more details into the blogs but tonight I just want to write the blog and go to sleep. It's after 9 pm and I am getting really tired at this point. I think tomorrow I will have more to share.

Did you see it?

Did you see it? Did you read it? Did you get a chance to read "We Never Knew". It was the product of my imagination at work. LOL!!  No really, I did write it. I haven't tried to write anything really creative in a very, very long time. I am happy with what I came up with.
It started with my desire to be more creative in my writing. Hence the blogs. Then this weekend Berry commented that I need to be more descriptive in my writing. While surfing VIMEO I watched a movie called "Clone Killer". vimeo.com/15211460   It was some dude shooting his clones in a really cool maze. Also, I have been reading "Decision Points" ( George Bush's Memoir ). So today right before lunch, I was mediating on these things and came up with a picture in my head of a warn out man waking down a lonely street. I first wrote about 6 lines. I reread them and it didn't even come close to what I was picturing in my head. I thought a bit longer and used what I had written and expanded from there. Taking from the political memoirs of Bush and the fight for your life feeling of the VIMEO video. And then there you go, a creative piece of writing.
As I was writing it I was imagining how I would film it. I thought of some cool ideas like Visual flashbacks as this haggard man walks along the lonely street while he narrates the story. The flashbacks are quick and last only a few seconds. They are from the past before the events took place. Another of the flashes would be flash forwards to the future mirroring his present. For example I would film him walking in  a similar fashion in the future in a tunnel under the white house.  ( That idea came from my friend Jan ). Anyway, I had a good time writing it.

Tonight I wanted to study more on Final Cut Express, but ended up writing this blog and just hanging out with Heather and Tami. Time well spent. :)  I am looking forward to putting writing more on the story I started this afternoon. I just hope that my creative juices continue to flow.

We Never Knew.

[setting: late evening, urban city street that has been torn up. A dim light shine through the black if the night. Silence except for the occasional rustling caused by the light breeze. A haggard man walking cautiously down the city street dressed warmly clutching his rifle with both hands]

Life used to be good. Life used to be easy and carefree. We didn't know it then but we sure do now. You could walk down the street without fearing for your life, meander around, hangout at the street corners or in front of buildings. We never really knew how easy we had it. That was until.... "it" happened. It wasn't overnight it was gradual. First was the yo-yo markets followed by the decline of the dollar. Protests flared up here, there, everywhere. Other countries tried to help but the arrogance of our society stopped them before they had a chance. Our government decided in order to slow the decline of the dollar and increasing loan defaults, chose to print more money. It helped, but not for long. Washington policy had stalled after the 2010 elections which voted in republican house and a democratic senate. For the next two years Washington sat on its hands in stalemate. All the while our economy slowly the quickly grinder to a halt. Protests became marches, marches became riots, and riots... Riots changed it all.

lalalalalalala

Sunday was a good day. Got up early and went to church. Chatted with everyone. Berry gave me some constructive criticism. He said to put in more detail and the blogs would be better. I think he is right. I do tend to talk about stuff but leave out a lot of detail. Which is why I started writing blogs in the first place. I want to better my written communication. I don't remember to much more of the conversations from Sunday.
After church I went home. Heather was studying for her personal trainer test at the end of this month. I finally was able to really study my Final Cut Express book that my dad sent me on Friday. I started to read the first chapter but realized that it was just going over very basic computer skills like where the doc is and how to resize and move the open windows in FCE. I then skipped ahead to the second chapter and read from there. At the end of the chapter there were questions to answer. I looked over them and decided to answer all questions at the end of the chapters so as to treat the book like a class.  Pretty much for the rest of the day Heather and I studied our books.
Monday, I had work. Work was good the day went smoothly and I was able to leave at 5:30 instead of the usual 6-6:30. After work Heather and I headed to the gym. It was my first time in at least 6 months! I spent about 15 minutes on the spin bike then headed to the weights area of the gym. I worked on my hamstrings and calves first. Then I moved on the upper body weights. Heather and I joined up and did pull ups and biceps curls. We finished up the workout with stomach crunches.
Well, that is all I can remember for now.

Just A Really Quick Blog

Today is Saturday and I had to work this morning. Work went well, very busy. After work I headed home and caught up on Community. I haven't been able to watch it because it is on during Thursday night bible study. Then I read up on my new book. I can't remember the name of it at the moment but it is a lesson book on Final Cut Express. After reading it a while Heather came home from another baby shower and we headed out to Craig's house for a Rock Band party. We had a great time and came home at 11:30 pm. And now I am writing this blog. Very tired at the moment but I wanted to get out a blog on time. Sorry for the shortness of it all. Busy day.

What a day!

What. A. Day. It started off good ended good but for most of the day..... not so good. This morning after I woke up I finished my blog for Thursday night got myself together jumped in the Jeep and headed to Starbucks. As I was walking up to the door I heard a familiar voice call out, in a light french accent, "Hello Chris!" It was my good friend Issa!! I haven't talked to him in a long time. He introduced me to his sister from Seattle and we chatted while in line for coffee. It was really great to see him again. We are going to have to hang out really soon!
After Starbucks I jumped back in the Jeep with my Venti house coffee and headed to work. Once I was at work everything was normal. Normal amount of patients, normal amount of work. That was until about 10 am. At 10 am things slow down a bit and we are able to tie loose ends up from earlier in the morning. Today was different. It didn't slow down at 10 it got busier! Both Jan and I started to feel overwhelmed. Trying to move quickly with total concentration on each and everything you do gets tiring fast. Patients were getting irritated from the long waits and we were tiring out. The worst part of the day was when I had a patient call to find out if she owed money. I helped her out as much as I could, even went out of my way to help her. My thanks was her getting pissed with me for being inconsiderate and rude. Wow! Really! Fortunately things started to lighten up after that.
When I got home my mother in law had dinner ready for everyone. Tami was more excited to see me today then usual. She even did her wiggle dance and Heather welcomed me warmly. All that felt good and the days events at work started to slowly slip away from my mind. I took Tami for a long walk in her wheelchair. Oh.....  and I got a really cool thing in the mail today. My dad sent me an Apple Pro Training book called "Final Cut Express 4". Sooooo excited!!!! Now I can really learn how to use my video editing program!!!  Thank you Dad! You rock!
So, overall my day went well. Just a few upsets but nothing my family can't rub out.

Blog you later,

Got Blog?

Well I am late posting this blog for Nov. 11. I have an excuse honest! I usually write my blogs about 8 or 9 pm. last night I did't have time to write. I got home around 6:30ish then took a shower. After the shower Heather had made a pot pie for me so I ate dinner and relaxed watching Wheel of Jeopardy...... wait..... wheel of jeopardy?? I meant Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. Silly me. Then at 7pm skype bible study started. Then when bible study was over at 8:35 I got ready for bed chatted with Heather. I lost track of time and all of a sudden it was 10 pm!! Yea.... time for bed. So that is why I am posting this so late.   :) Sorry about that.
Anyway, bible study was good. it started with the usual glitches of lousy sound and people being booted off for no reason. Once it got started we studied Revelation 12. It's really cryptic. Rev. 12 talks about a woman clothed with the sun and the moon as a footstool. A dragon comes and tries to devour her child. Really...devour! Yes devour. Devour means in revelation to kill. Anyway, I learned that one thought is that the woman represents Israel, the sun represents Life that God gives, and the moon, a reflection of God. Now I am not a bible scholar so I am not going to go into much detail here. Sorry guys. What I did pull away from the study tonight (last night) was that Revelation is a story about the culmination of God's glory over the heavens and earth. It includes the beginning of time to the end of time all in one book. It was a great study last night, I enjoyed it a lot!
Well about the blog for yesterday. I did start a blog in the morning. I wanted to do a really good piece comparing todays political and social movements referencing between a Glen Beck story ( Puppet Master ), Survivor, and my job. I think I am going to keep working on it. I do enjoy reading and contemplating politics and sociological ideas. I think it is only natural for me to start writing about them.

Easy Day Today

Another good start to the day today. I didn't go to Starbucks but I did make myself some coffee and relaxed surfing the internet. I got to work and it was a really slow day. It was a nice relief from the normal hecticness of every other day. I got a really nice compliment on my beard today. A patient commented to me that I had a nice beard and he wished he could grow a good beard like mine. That made me feel pretty good.
I have to be honest, I am not enjoying blogging everyday. I don't feel I have much to say by the end of the day. And what I can remember of the day it doesn't seem very interesting to me. I am going to continue blogging every day this month despite my lack of desire to write about myself.
The book "Decision Points" is really good! No, seriously! It's good! I can't recall what I read today other then I learned that W. campaigned for his dad back in 80' for the republican presidential nomination, which was won by Ronald Reagan. I wish I had more free time to read more. W. lead an interesting life.

That is all I can think of writing tonight.

Great start to the day!

What a great start to the day! I woke up and felt like I slept well. Left for work an hour early and hung out at Starbucks. I started reading "Decision Points" by George W. Bush. I had forgot that I bought it from Amazon back in August. At the same time I bought "Decision Points" I bought a kindle. Both the book and the kindle were on back order. The Kindle was back ordered about 3 weeks and the book was back ordered a month or so. I decided to not buy the kindle and I had thought that by canceling my order for the kindle then the book would be canceled as well. Not true, and I am glad that I have the book. I found it on Kindle for iphone.
So, before work I read "Decision Points" and drank coffee. That really put me in a good mood and I was able to work with all cylinders running. The beginning of the day was really really busy but by the end of the day it was really slow. I got out of work around 6:30 headed home and relaxed.
If I was to recommend a book it would be George's book. The book flows well and is written in a smooth concise manor. I've learned a few things about the Bush's, like George Jr. had a sister that passed away from leukemia. And (everyone knew but me) he went to both Yale and Harvard. Kicked out of Yale and graduated from Harvard. I am looking forward to tomorrow morning when I can read my book some more.

Nothing Special

I had a pretty non exciting day today. I got up around 5 am got ready for work took care of the dog and went to work. I wanted to take the motorcycle today but it was raining pretty good all morning. I ended up taking the Jeep. I was a little worried that the Jeep wouldn't make it to work.
Yesterday, Sunday, when I took the Jeep to get gas I heard a loud bang and felt the SUV lunge forward and then the service engine light went on. It felt, and still feels like first gear is out. When I press lightly on the gas from park the Jeep doesn't move. Not until I push harder on the peddle does the Jeep move forward. I am going to have to get it check out really soon.
Work was really busy today. By the end of the day I was pretty tired. When I got home Heather had salad ready for me for dinner. I took Tami for a walk and then spent the rest of the night surfing the net and writing this blog. Pretty much nothing special today. Just another day.
Blog you later,

6 years of dating

Today we had to move the clocks forward an hour. That was nice because I got to sleep in an extra hour. I got up just before 7 am. Most of the morning I was looking up Airstreams. checking out how people have designed there trailer. There are some really cool things you can do to an airstream! I found out that because of their aerodynamic design they are able to reduce the amount of drag while towing t by something like 20% ( I don't remember exactly ). I even saw one with a washer/dryer combo!
After I had tired myself of looking at airstreams I got ready for church. At church we are studying the book of Acts. It was a good sermon as usual. There were a lot of people there today, about 11 or 12 adults.
After church I headed home and rested up for my date with Heather. Today ( November 7 ) is the 6th anniversary of our first date. For the date I decided to take her to the same place as we went on the first date: Balboa Park, and Hillcrest.
The date started out good but on the way there I missed a turn off and had to loop back around. Then, Once we got to San Diego I took a few more wrong turns and couldn't find the entrance to the museums and theater. We did find the baseball fields and tennis courts. By now it was getting really dark and I was getting hungry. We nixed the park and headed up to Hillcrest.
There was a italian restaurant that I took her 6 years ago that I couldn't remember where it was or what the name of the restaurant is. I just remembered it was in Hillcrest. We walked around and finally found it. The place; Pizza Port. I couldn't believe it was Pizza Port. We have one of those about a mile away from our house. Heather wasn't in the mood for Pizza so we walked around some more and ended up at Sambuca. It is another Italian restaurant. This one was a little more up scale. The food they served was really hot and fresh and the red wine was at the perfect temp. I had a linguine and chicken alfredo dinner, Heather had a linguine fresca plate. It had mushrooms eggplant and a few other things I can't remember at the moment. The wine choice was Barbera from the California Napa valley. After dinner we headed home.
Overall our date was successful. I have to admit I thought the date was going to crash and burn because of all the problems just getting to where we wanted to go. In the end it ended up really nice.
I love you Heather and I hope that we have many more dates and anniversary dates still ahead of us.

Hello Saturday.

Well today started off well. I woke up around 6 am and took Tami out. Left the house around 7 am and picked up some Starbucks coffee on the way to work. I worked in Oceanside today. Went well, really busy. I got back home about 1:30.
Today is my Father in laws birthday. So my sister in law and brother in law took him out on a surprise lunch. Heather went to a baby shower in Vista.
I wanted to work on my video today by filming some green screen work but ended up not doing that. I meet up with my pastor Ritchie for coffee. Had a good chat. I headed home and rested
I am getting tired to day and just wanted to make sure I put out a new blog. I am going to write at least 1 blog a day for the month of November. It will be interesting to look back on them at the end of the month to see how I did.
blog you later,

Rough Start to the Day.

Had a rough start to the day. Woke up just fine and got to work just fine but when I was at work my allergies got the best of me. Not the kinda of allergies that make your nose run or eyes water. The kinda of allergies that make your head stuffy making you feel slow and unable to concentrate. All morning long I struggled to type up doctors orders. Every time I tried to type a letter I would hit every other key except the one I meant to type. I struggled to multitask. Ugh, what a day! But by late afternoon and long after the rush of patients my head finally started to clear up. Yea!!! Over all we didn't see as many patients as usual, about 79 in all for the day. before noon we had 60 patients.
After work Heather and I meet up with Matt and Danielle at Henessy's bar and grill. It was a really nice bar, set up as an irish pub. We sat outside and ate appetizers. Afterwards we all headed back to their house and watched "Get Him To The Greek". Funny, funny movie! "Furry walls make you feel better."
     Had a great Friday!

Another day of record heat!

Well I wrote yesterday that the weather was supposed to get cooler into the weekend.... well it got hotter. How much hotter? It was over 100ยบ in San Marcos. According to San Diego 6 news the weather broke 3 city heat records. Vista at 96ยบ Lindbergh Field 100ยบ and Alpine  92ยบ. Luckily I was able to beat the heat by working inside all day.
I got to work in a different location today. I was very happy to work somewhere else today on account of the tension at my main site. Work was really busy. At my main site (Graybill) we have 3 1/2 people working there. At the new site (Grand) there are only 2 people. At Graybill there is on average 130 patients that come through. At Grand they average 80 to 90 patients a day. At Grand they do see less patients but they have halve the help. I scored a free lunch today thank you to Jan!  She is the site coordinator at Grand. She is great to work with.  I get to work there all next week to!  Woohoooo!
I got off work earlier then I thought (6pm). I got home and downloaded a new version of Skype so I could listen in to our thursday night bible study. Today was the official start of Thursday night Skype. Normally we all meet at my pastors house. But now we can meet at the house or we can listen in on Skype. So cool!!! The scripture we talked about was Revelation 12:3 about the woman clothed with the sun and moon under her feet. I learned some really cool stuff. One was that the sun represented life and that the moon represented the snake and his brood. The woman represented Israel. I noticed in Genesis 3:15 (as a reference back to Rev. 3) where God curses the snake, he puts enmity between the snake and her but not between her and the snake. I thought that was really interesting especially when you consider the relationship between Jews and Muslims.
After bible study I got ready for bed. Watched the end of 30 rock and all of Office.

100ยบ in November?

Man, was it hot today!!! The high was almost 100ยบ!!  Yea, strange huh? It is the beginning of November and we have near 100ยบ temps. I think today was supposed to be the hottest day of the week. It is projected to get cooler (70's) through the weekend. A more normal temp for Southern California.
Work was interesting. I feel like I work on the set of a soap opera. I shouldn't get into detail especially since this is a public blog but I will say this.... Tensions are high and someone is about to loose there job. (not me)
I am really happy for Heather today. She went to the DMV to get the tabs for the Celica. She woke up at 7 am and waited in line at the DMV at 7:30. She was the 8th person in line. The DMV was supposed to open up at 8 am but I guess they decided to open up at 9 instead. Heather ended up having to wait in line an hour and a half! Well it turned out o.k because there was some entertainment. A man holding a giant cross was walking around yelling out gibberish and another man in the DMV line decided to start an argument with the man and the cross. I don't know the details of the argument but Heather did say it entertained her and made the long wait a little easier.  Once the DMV opened up heather was in and out of there in less then 15 minutes, tabs in hand.
The past few days I have been working on a new video. I am getting more and more comfortable with Final Cut Express so I am going to try and add some special effects and green screen work to it. So far I have marked what I am going to use. I am hoping to be able to put it all together this weekend.  I have also decided to write a blog every day in November. This won't be easy for me especially because I'm not someone who has a lot to say.  Wish me luck y'all!

Today is the time of year when you can tell Washington and your local government what you think. Here in California we have a couple big voter items one of which is a new governor, senator, and prop 19.
The race for senator at this time (8:46 pm) is still to close to call for the senate seat. For the governor seat Jerry Brown is the projected exit poll winner. Finally as for prop 19.... exit polls are saying no to 19.
Prop 19 is a really hot issue here. It is the prop to legalize marijuana use and distribution. By legalizing it the state of California will be able to tax and regulate. I believe the marijuana tax alone will put the economy of California back on track.
I had a hard time finding where to vote today. When I arrived home I immediately went to where I usually vote, which is a few blocks away. I rode over there only to find it empty of polls. I was totally bummed out. I went back home and told Heather I won't be able to vote.  She reminded me that the elementary school is open to voters. So I headed up there and sure enough voting was going on there. :)
I got my vote on today, how 'bout you?

What a restful weekend! Two back to back days of 7+ hours of sleep! I have to say I am feeling pretty good this morning. On Saturday Heather and I went over to the Taylor's home to pick up some video footage of last weeks karaoke party and ended up having another karaoke party! We stayed out later then we thought we would (about midnight)  before heading back home.
I am defiantly enjoying Final Cut Express now that I know how to do basic editing on it. I was getting pretty frustrated because I didn't know what I was doing at first. Now that I know what I'm doing on FCE I am learning the difference between that and FCP (Final Cut Pro). For instance, I learned when using green screen in FCE you are not able to change the key-color to checkerboard. Checkerboard helps when you need to see how blended you image is against the background.
Another Halloween has come and gone. This year I didn't really feel the holiday. Maybe because I was to tired from the night before..... Heather wasn't feeling good so I think I was just more occupied with taking care of her then thinking about all the trick o' treaters.
Heather carved a really cool pumpkin this year. It is a wolf. I think originally she wanted to carve a picture of a boxer dog but was not able to find a carving templet. She said that she messed up on it but I don't think anyone can tell.
This week Tami is getting her stitches out. We have an appointment for today at 5:30 but might have to cancel because I was not able to get off work early to take her in. If I can't take her today I will try to take her in during my lunch on Tuesday. Tami is doing good on Saturday she ran after a cat! I had her midsection in a sling while she ran so that when she gets tired she doesn't drag her leg. Now this morning she was walking around inside and outside with out any help. I am very excited and happy with her progress.
Well I need to wrap up the blog I have to leave for work in a few minutes.

Finally finished

Well I finally completed a video I started working on a month ago. It has taken me this long because I have been learning how to use Final Cut Express. I am learning by two methods: experimentation, You Tube.  The video was shot at my friend Beau's house. It was his sister Brie's 30th birthday party that was themed as a 1920's speakeasy. Since I don't have a proper camcorder I used an old Kodak point and shoot camera. I think the video is a little grainy.  I still have not purchased a proper camcorder. I have been going back and forth on whether I should buy a DSLR with all the mods I can do or the kodak xi8 with it's ability to add stereo mic.... Decisions, decisions.......

Long day with a Starbucks ending

It was another long day at work today. Again, it was raining this morning. I was hoping to be able to ride the motorcycle to work. It had rained all night and most of the day was cloudy, cold and wet. By late afternoon the sun broke through the clouds and warmed things up a bit.      This past Saturday I had dropped off my Jeep for some needed repairs. So today(Monday), after work I picked up my Jeep. Found out that there was a few extra problems with it that I did not know about. One was the rear differential was leaking causing the e-brake to not work. I also need to replace the rear right and left axle seals. The cheapest repair that I still need to do is to replace the transfer-case fluid priced at $58 and change.
I ended the day hanging out at Starbucks with my wife and our friends, Luke, Chris, Jerisse, Micah, and one of Chris's friends, that I forgot her name. We sat on the couches and chatted up life sipping on hot coco. Tonight was Jerisse and Micha's [Micha is Jerisse's daughter] last day in So. Cal. They were headed back to the warm... ehem.... cold Canadian north. So it was great to be able to hang out with them before they left. I am looking forward to seeing them and Joe in December!
We ended the night with a lot of laughter and hijinks. We formed a circle as Micah ran around giving everyone almost a hug. She would run up to one person then at the last second run back to her momma. That kept us entertained for a while.
Today I am headed to the DMV to try to solve the problem with not getting our tabs for the Celica. I scheduled an appointment at 10:10 this morning. I will have to leave work on an early lunch to be able to do this. I am hoping that work will still let me go. (finger's crossed). I am hoping they will give me the tabs or at very least a temporary permit.
     Have a great day, everyone!

Cold Air, Dark Clouds, and Spiced Wine.

It has been a few days since my last post. Not much has been going on. Tami is getting stronger. Work has been long and busy.
On Friday night I took Heather out to dinner to Bruno's. Bruno's is an upscale Italian restaurant located in San Marcos, CA. We had a lot to talk about and catch up on. We talked about friends family and our marriage. We ordered an Olive oil pizza, chicken caesar salad and a bottle of Italian Chanti which was excellent!
Today I had to work from 8am to 12:30pm. I am happy over the day because the work day went very smooth. I ran into an old friend at work which was really nice, haven't seen him or his family in years. Not since I was attending Fundamental Baptist Church.
After work I dropped the Jeep off at West Escondido Transmission. I am getting the left front axle replace. Heather picked me up in front of the mechanics. I was really tired after work so I took a nap.

The weather today is kinda stormy still. No rain, just big dark ominous clouds. The temp has been in the  60's which for us in So. Cal. that's cold!! I made some spiced wine and warmed up.
Tonight Heather and I will be visiting our friend Craig. He is throwing a UFC fight party. We will only be able to stay for a little bit tonight. I have church tomorrow morning and afterwards we are going to our friends Matt and Danielle to watch the Chargers kick some ass!!!!  Go CHARGERS!!!!!!
I apologize about the blog today I just re-read it and it reads a little rough.
Hopefully Sunday's blog will be typed a bit better.

Good morning!

It is 6:52 am as I am writing this blog. I didn't write a blog last night because I didn't get around to it, so I am writing this one in it's place.
Slept pretty good last night and had some cool dreams about hanging out with friends. I always like those dreams! Woke up just 2 times last night to attend to the dog. The first time I got up was at about midnight to let her outside to go potty. The second time was to recover her with her blanket. Tami had moved off her bed and was lying on the area rug in a fetal position. I can't remember if I moved her back to her bed and covered her or just covered her up.... oh well when your half asleep remembering what you did isn't to easy.
The weather was been really stormy this week. We had thunder and lightning yesterday morning and it has been raining all week. I am really missing the sun right now. I love the rain and all but after 2-3 days of clouds and rain with no breaks of sunshine gets old fast. According to the weather channel on my iphone the sun should come back out tomorrow. YEAAAAAA!!!!!!  I will finally be able to ride my motorcycle again! I have been driving the Jeep this week. It gets about 14 miles a gallon. Yea, it's a gas guzzler, especially when you compare it to the bike. My Yamaha z6 get about 58 miles a gallon.
This morning I finally got an appointment at the DMV to get Heather's tabs for her car. My appointment time is at 10 in the morning. I am hoping I will be able to leave work to take care of that. I recently found out that the DMV did not receive the smog report this past July and that is why we have not received the tabs.
Quick story: A few days ago I went to Starbucks for lunch and was pulled over by a cop because of expired tabs. I showed him my smog report and proof that I paid my tabs. I asked him if there was a long delay in receiving tabs. He went back to his car and checked on them for me. When the officer came back he said that the DMV never received the smog confirmation. So I am hoping when I get to the DMV on Tuesday that they will accept the smog report from July. (The repot expires after 60 days).

Have a great day everyone!!

Like moving through thick soup

I don't know what happened today but all morning long it felt like I was moving in slow motion like moving through thick soup. I woke up this morning at about 5:15 am and of course it was Tami taking the place of the alarm. I had my morning coffee and bagel for breakfast and edited a video I have been working on for the last week and a half.
When I got to work that is when I really felt sluggish. I couldn't type quickly and every draw seemed like I had spent eternity with the patient. Not that that is bad just that there was a lot of work to be done and I didn't need to spend all my time with just one patient.
I worked through my day and by lunch I went out and had a venti toffee mocha from Starbucks. That really helped out. The rest of my day at work went smoothly.

I am pretty excited today because I feel I am getting better at understanding Final Cut Express. This morning I recorded a voice over for the video I'm working on and was able to reorganize the video segments in a more precise manor. I am hoping to get the video up on utube by Wednesday.

Till Tuesday,

What to write.

Today Tami's recovery is getting better. This morning she surprised me by waking me up by getting out of bed and walking to the door. We walked her more then yesterday and now She can walk about 1 block at a time. We were able to walk her with the help of a sling (Towel).
It's about 9:25pm so that means that is is 25 minutes past my bed time. I am having trouble remembering all that we did today. Ok, now I remember....
This morning after taking Tami out to go potty and poop I headed to church to met and greet for a few minutes and catch up with everyone. I was not able to stay because I needed to be home to help care for Tami. After I left church I headed to 9th street donuts and bought Heather and I two big donuts each. hehe. I ate one on the way home and ate the other when I got home.
I spent most of the day lounging, surfing the internet and caring for Tami. I did learn a few things on garage band. I learned how to make music using the preloaded loops provided by mac.
Well, it is getting late and Heather is already asleep.
Have a great night

Somewhat lazy day

Today was a long and lazy day. Last night we gave Tami a sedative that made her incontinent. The medication knocked her out for over 12 hours. We gave her the meds at about 7pm last night and she did not come out of the drug haze till after noon today. She is now walking around with assistance. Her left/right balance is still a little shaky. I think by Sunday night she will be able to walk outside pretty much on her own with out help.
I was hoping to get some video editing done today but couldn't find the time to get away to a quiet place to work on it. I left the house just two times today. Once to get more absorbent pads for Tami and the second time was to get more food for Tami.  I surfed the net and watched t.v in between caring for our dog.
On Sunday I am going to go to church for a few minutes to say "hi" to everyone and then I will have to get back home to help take care of our little one.
That's all I have for today not much for a lazy Saturday

Tami is home!

Tami is finally home again. It was a long 24 hours for us. Heather and I slept better then we thought we would. I got up this morning at about 6:30, which for me is sleeping in. I researched some more reviews on the alpha 55. Then at about 8am I went and got two pumpkin spice lattes for Heather and I. Came home just in time as Heather was waking up and gave her her coffee. :)
We pretty much just hung out at home till noon. We headed out to Petco to get Tami a new leash and collar, since the old ones are 4 years old and dirty. Petco did not have what we liked so we headed to Pet Smart. There we found a new leather leash but could not settle on a good collar. With a new leash in hand we headed to the vet to pick up our baby.
Once we got there I was feeling very excited and antsy to get her back home. We went in and the tech took us back to her kennel. The tech opened up the door and Tami quickly got up and out of the kennel to great us. She was shaking a bit and not showing any pain. Her now stump of a leg looked rough, but the vet had told us it would look rough. Tami started walking right away. I couldn't believe it! Tami walked a bit and then settled down and sat down. The tech put a towel down under her stump to add in comfort.
I then puled the car in back of the vet office to make it easier to get her in the car while they instructed Heather on how to take care of her and when to giver her her meds.
Tami walked out to the car with the help of one of the techs. She held a towel around Tami's waist to give support. Tami walked up to the Jeep and just like old times proceeded to jump in to the back seat. both Heather and I were very happy. I went back into the office and paid the bill. Then we headed home.
When we got home Heather went ahead of me into the house to get her bed ready. I got Tami out of the car and she walked to the house. I used the towel to support her while she walked. She pottied outside and then we brought her inside to her bed and feed and watered her. At that time she finally started to relax. She knew she was home.  :)
So now we have been sitting next to our dog and tending to her needs. I am looking forward to quick recovery.
Till next time,

First time blogger

Well today is my first day writing a blog. I have been inspired to do this because of (once again) Bud and Christin Newman. They both have been blogging for a while and each for there own reasons. My reasons for blogging are to get better at my writing and to increase my written communication skills.
I plan on writing a few times each week on what has been going on in my life. I'll be writing about my dreams, aspirations, daily goings on and pretty much what ever I have been doing or thinking about. Which is the definition of a blog.
Well, today was an ok day. I got up early and took care of the dog. Surfed the internet and looked up information on the Sony Alpha 55 DSLR. Then I received a call from my lead tech asking if I was at work yet. Time; 6:55am. I was supposed to open up the lab at 7am! oops..... I guess I got my time wrong on when I was to work. I thought I worked at 7:30. Needless to say I drove as fast as I legally could to work and was about 10 minutes late. The patients were in good spirits so that made the morning a little easier. Overall, the work day went smoothly.
This morning Heather took Tami to the vets at 10 am to have her leg amputated. It was really hard for her to drop Tami off; not because of the surgery but because we won't get our dog back till tomorrow.  It's either going to be a rough night sleeping or a really good nights rest. I talked to the vet at around 4:30pm and asked how Tami was doing. The vet said that the surgery went well and she was still sleeping. We will be able to pick her up anytime Friday. I am planning on picking her up after lunch.
Friday morning I have to go to the CA DMV to get the Celica tabs. We payed for them and got the smog test back in July and still have yet to receive our tabs. I am hoping that the DMV is open and I'll be able to get them in the morning.
That's all I have for tonight.
